This month, Lubery has added several hundred new items to our website!. We now carry over 12,000 items. This last month has been a busy one for us. We have revamped our photos, reorganized our categories, created new tools to better support our customers in managing their orders from conception to delivery. We have also added the United States Postal Service as an additional delivery option. We offer USPS as Priority Service and it is generally a few dollars less than UPS Ground.
In addition to these changes, Lubery has hired a new Customer Service Manager. We feel fortunate that Jeff has accepted the position. Happy August, With the heat of the summer upon us, don't let sensitive skin ruin your plans for your favorite summertime fun. Some water based lubricants contain glycerin.  Glycerin is a derivative of sugar. 
For people with sensitive skin, glycerin can cause rashes, itching, and even burning sensations.  Some women are more prone to yeast infections than others. Water based lubes that contain glycerin can in some cases be the cause, and in others just make matters worse.  In men, urethral irritations and skin irritations can also be caused from glycerin. If you are experiencing these types of irritations, it could be caused by your lube. If your water based Lube is more than six months old, toss it! Women should try Liquid Silk and men should try silicone based products like Pjur Eros, wet platinum, or System Jo.  These will make your summer fun again.

This History of February 14th, Valentine's Day.

In the city of Rome in the years around 270AD there lived an Emperor named Claudius. He is known in history as Claudius the Cruel.

Near his palace was a beautiful temple where the priest Valentine served. The Romans loved him dearly and assembled in the temple to hear his words. Before the fire that always burned on the altar they knelt to ask his blessing. Rich and poor, wise and ignorant, old and young, noble and common people they all flocked to Valentine.

Wars broke out in the Roman Empire. Claudius summoned the citizens forth to battle and year after year the fighting continued. Many of the Romans were unwilling to go. The married men did not want to leave their families. The younger men did not wish to leave their sweethearts. The Emperor was angry when soldiers were too few. He ordered that no marriages should be celebrated and that all engagements must be broken off immediately.

Now the good priest Valentine heard of the Emperor's command and was very sad. When a young couple came to the temple, he secretly united them in marriage in front of the sacred altar. Another pair sought his aid and in secret he wedded them. Others came and quietly were married. Valentine was the friend of lovers in every district of Rome.

But, such secrets could not be kept for long in Rome. At last word of Valentine's acts reached the palace and Claudius the Cruel was angry, exceedingly angry. He summoned his soldiers. "Go! Take that priest in the temple! Cast him into a dungeon! No man in Rome, priest or not, shall disobey my commands!"

Valentine was dragged from the temple, away from the altar where a young maiden and a Roman youth stood, ready to be married, and the soldiers took him off to prison.

Many asked Claudius to release Valentine but Claudius refused to do so, and in a dungeon Valentine languished and died. His devoted friends buried him in the church of St. Praxedes. When you go to Rome you can see the very place. It was the year 270AD, on the 14th of February.

Because January 1 is the first day of the New Year, we have drawn a connection between what we do on that day and our fate throughout the rest of the year. Here are some of the ways we attempt to ensure a good outcome through our acts on that portentous first day: Love: We kiss those dearest to us at midnight not only to share a moment of celebration with others, but also to ensure that those affections and ties will continue throughout the next twelve months. To smooch with our significant other at that time would help to set the stage for a year of happiness. Work: Make sure to do, and be successful at, something related to your work on the first day of the year, even if you don't go near your place of employment that day. Limit your activity to a token amount, though, because to engage in a serious work project on that day is very unlucky.

Happy July. With the summer season upon us, take time to stock up on your condoms and lubricants because you're going to need it. This is going to be a HOT summer. Also, please remember to always check the expiration dates of all your products to ensure the best results. If you get proteins on your lube bottle or toys, and don't properly clean them, they can grow bacteria and can cause all kinds of problems including yeast infections. Keep your products clean and throw away expired product! Summer has always been considered to be the most romantic of the four seasons. Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter. To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter. By A.D. 43, Romans had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain. The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples that is practiced today on Halloween.
By the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. It is widely believed today that the pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween. Even later, in A.D. 1000, the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils. Together, the three celebrations, the eve of All Saints', All Saints', and All Souls', were called Hallowmas.
